Effective Idea Management

At Leantime, we understand that managing projects involves several moving parts, and it's common to generate new solutions and ideas along the way. To ensure that none of your great ideas get lost, we created the Ideas Board for idea management. With this tool, you can share, track, and implement your ideas throughout your project's life cycle. Now, let’s start creating your next big idea.

The Idea Board

To get started, navigate to the "Ideas" page on the left side of your screen. Leantime automatically creates an Idea Board for you named "Board," but you can easily change the name by clicking the three dots in the top right corner and selecting "Edit." Enter a name for your Idea Board and click "Save."



To add an idea to your board, click the "Add Idea" button on the top left corner of your screen. Here you can edit the name, description, and add a tag. Don't forget to save your idea!

Editing Existing Ideas

Once you've saved your idea, you can also attach it to a milestone. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the idea tile and select "Edit." From there, you can attach an existing milestone or create a new one. You can also add comments to your idea in the "Discussion" section.

Updating an Idea’s Status

Each idea's status is automatically set to "New Idea." To update the status, click the drop-down arrow in the status label on the idea's tile and choose from six different options.

Customizing Your Idea Board

Leantime offers two views to choose from when customizing your Idea Board: the Kanban View and the Wall View. The Wall View displays all your ideas in a classic table-like format, while the Kanban View sorts your ideas into columns based on their status.

Creating a New Idea Board

You can create new Idea Boards by clicking the drop-down Arrow next to your current Boards name. From there select “Create New Board”, enter a name for your new Idea Board, then click “Create Board”.

Deleting an Idea or Idea Board

If you want to delete an idea, select the three dots in the top right corner of the idea tile and choose "Delete." A box will pop up asking if you're sure you want to delete the idea. If you're ready to part with it, select "Yes, delete!"

If you're ready to retire an entire Idea Board, click the three dots in the top right corner of the screen and select "Delete."
